Accessories to consider while buying a bicycle:
If you think, a bicycle is the only thing you'll need to experience all of cycling, you'd be wrong.
You see, most of the bicycles don't even come with pedals. Let alone mud flaps or a bell. Sometimes you don't have to buy them if you are buying at a local store since they provide them either for free or as a package.
Chapter 1: what more do you need when you have the whole bicycle?
Whenever you buy a phone, if the phone doesn't come with earphones, you'll buy earphones. But it gets tricky when you start buying adapters, screen protectors, back covers, memory cards, paid applications and what not. The same way, after buying a bicycle, you might want to consider buying a few things.
Chapter 2: Here are some accessories you can consider in the ascending order of priority:
Mudguards, bell or a horn and a water bottle holder are a standard package most of the local shops provide by default.
• Helmet:
A cycling helmet is the first line of defence against head injury in case of any accident. This has to be your first priority. Cycling is all about feeling safe and having fun. You can also consider knee pads and elbow pads if you are off-roading and if you do stunts. (Button - “check out helmets”)
• Headlights and tail lights:
Most of the riders ride early in the morning. I personally do night rides. Even on foggy roads, you'll have to have a headlight and a tail light for you to have clear visibility of the road and for you to be visible to others. I’ll be honest with you. Night rides are scary. It's even scarier when you consider foggy roads.it looks beautiful. But you’ll have to be wary of rough roads, street dogs, and rash riders.
• Puncture kit and a pump:
Roads are not always smooth. And punctures are a common occurrence during cycling. And to prevent it, you'll have to go tubeless which can be expensive. Or just buy a puncture kit and learn how to patch them. It will take time, but saves loads of effort. You'll need a small pump to fill the air back. Click to know how to patch punctures by yourself.
• Lock:
Protect your investment with a sturdy bicycle lock ranging from cable locks to chains to U-locks. Choose the right one according to your needs and usage. Or you can just keep your bicycle inside your home if you can.
• Phone mount and mirror:
If you are a commuter, you might have struggled to travel on the road in this traffic. While crossing the road, while turning, while changing lanes, it's common for vehicles to speed past you and almost hit you. Having a mirror and a phone mount helps you with navigation and safety.
• Cycling specific clothing? :
If you are a professional or really very passionate about the sport, you can consider cycling glasses, jersey, padded shorts, gloves, cleats and clip less pedals and much more depending on your preferred sport.
Chapter 3: Conclusion
Whether it's a phone, laptop, car, bicycle, bicycle or almost anything.... When you buy them, consider looking into accessories. It'll make the usage fun, safe and convenient.
